Went For
A Run |

| Went for a run first thing. I did an extra bit to my normal loop. I went down to the old people home and back. Went well and felt good afterwards. Worked form home all day. Sally Davis popped round about 2 for a couple of hours or so which was nice. In the evening we took Katie Anne to house group at Simon and Jenny's which was good fun. Good meeting. | |

Had a fairly bad journey to work but arrived on time. Had a good really. Went to McDonalds for lunch with Esther and Fiona. Drove back form work and went straight to church for a PST managed to grab a grubs burger before the meeting started! Good meeting. Got home about 10.30pm and went straight to bed. |

Dad,
Clare And Ian Came Over Dad, Clare and Ian came round about 11.30am which was really nice as Ian hadn't meet Katie Anne yet and Clare had only once before when she was sleeping. They stayed for a couple of hours. Then Andrea and Katie and a sleep for a bit a we had some lunch as well. In the afternoon we went to Juliet and Jamie's for Ronan's 4th birthday. That was quite good. We watched a lot of rugby as the 6 nations was on. Left there about 7.30pm. In the evening I went to Downs pub with Dad and Ian and we watched the Wales rugby game. |

| Didn't do too much in the morning just some tidying etc and popped out to the chemists. The health visitor came round about midday for her first visit which went OK. Then we had a family trip out to Sainsbury's to pick up a few bits. After that we had Atkins, Ce and Tallulah over for a bit. That was good fun. | I didn't go to work today as Andrea had been so tired yesterday evening I wanted to make sure that she was OK. We went to the hospital for 11am to get Katie Anne's tongue tie cut. She didn't mind a bit and it was very quick. She fell straight back to sleep afterwards! Dave and Laura Treener popped round about 12.30pm briefly to drop off a gift and see Katie! She was on her way to hospital for a 12 week scan herself! Then Anne and Mike popped over around 1pm for a little bit. In the evening we decided not go to house group but Matt and Kate Stringer came over for a hour or so about 7.30pm. That was nice they brought Alex along as well. | |

| Up Early to go to work. First day back after Katie Anne was born. Was OK but I was fairly tired all day. Went for a nice stroll with Jonathan Francis at lunch time. Left about 4.45pm and had an OK drive home. Andrea had been at Anne and Mikes all day and she was knackered when I got in. I got us some dinner ready and looked after Katie Anne while Andrea had a sleep. | |

| Didn't really do anything all day. Just tidied, looked after Katie Anne etc. Lisa Elbourne popped over in the morning for an hour or so with Josie. I took a walk down to the doctors and post box with Katie Anne while Andrea had a nap. Dad popped over late afternoon for a bit to drop Andreas car back. I then drove him back home. The Sussex Beacon Half Marathon |

| We got ready top go to church but when we were half way there we got stuck in grid locked traffic as it was the Sussex Beacon half marathon in town. We ended up in a diversion that took us up to kemp town and we were so late by that point that we decided not to go church but to see the half marathon. Mike, Jamie and the towns were taking part as well as Micah, Emily, Alex and Atkins. We saw Mike and Atkins and Alex. We stayed there and meet up with Dad and Anne who were also watching. Then we went back to Anne and Mikes for lunch and stayed until about 5.30pm. I dropped Andrea and Katie Anne off home and then went to the evening service at church. When O got home Andrea wasn't feeling to great so I decided not to go back to work tomorrow. | |

| Katie Anne had had a good night last night. Although she woke regularly she was very good and just feed and went straight back to sleep. I Went for a run first thing. Then spent the rest of the morning getting breakfast ready and sorting out the house a bit. Dad popped over after he'd been at the allotment for an hour or so. and then the mid wives arrived. They did a blood spot check on Katie and also weighed her again. She was now 8lb 4oz. After that we had some lunch and then watched some `24 Season 1`. Then we decided to go for a little walk around the route I run in Bevendean. We worked got the buggy and went for a stroll. That was nice to get out. In the evening I popped over to Pia and Steve's to pick the video of the Lost Season 3 episodes. We got home and watched them but it was only the first 3 episodes. | |

| Went for a run first thing. Then spent the rest of morning sorting some things out, cleaning, tidying, etc, while Andrea feed Katie Anne or napped. The mid wife came over mid morning to do her check of Katie and Andrea. That was all good. After lunch I went to the hospital to visit Margaret (who they call tigger) from the home drive retirement flats that me and Andy visit. She had had a stroke and a fall and now had pneumonia. She is in a very bad way. I got there before Andy and went straight up to see her. She was unconscious the whole time I was there. But we saw two of her friends who had also come to visit. We prayed for her and chatted to the friends that came to visit for about 45mins. Then came home and we took a trip out to Asda. So we put Katie in her car seat and she slept all the way there. Then we put the car seat in a trolley and went round the supermarket. We saw Sally Northwood in there! Got a few bits and Andrea got some clothes and then we came home about 5.45pm. A successful trip out! Dad, Clare and Dee were due to be coming over in the evening but Dad car broke down. The clutch cable went so they were late. In the end I went and picked them all up and Dad drove Andrea's car home. It was a nice evening as it was Clare and Dee's first time to see Katie Anne and Dad bought the food! | |

Dad Came
Over And We Took Birthing Pool Back |

| We were both up a little bit in the night with Katie, Andrea more than me obviously! Spent the morning just getting up and having breakfast. Things that took minutes before now seem to take hours!! Dad came over about 11am and we took the birthing pool down and packed it up and drove over to Whitehawk to drop that back. Shortly after we got back Minton and Atkins popped over for an hour or so. Dad left shortly after they arrived. Then Mike and Anne popped over and Andrea got a bit of sleep. They helped me do some cleaning and tidying which was great. In the evening Katie was a bit noisy for a while but she eventually settled down for a while which allowed Andrea and me to have a really nice Valentines evening together with a lovely Thai take away meal and some champagne! Beautiful! | |

Andrea And Katie Came Home |

| Went to visit Andrea first thing. She was doing well and feed Katie last night which was great! The mid wives said Andrea could go home as they were both well and feeding OK. SO I packed up all her stuff and did a couple of trips to the car. Eventually got home around 2pm and spent the rest of the day and evening settling in and sending some emails and photos to people. Very strange to have another member of the family in the house! but a great feeling! | |

| Woke up at 9.15am. Dad came over and followed me to the garage as I had to drop my car off for its MOT. Once I'd done that he dropped me at the hospital. Andrea and Katie were doing very well. We heard that Jenny Clarke was also in having her baby. I stayed until about 1pm and then went Dad picked me up and we went to Anne and Mikes for lunch. Then Mike, Dad and Me went to visit Andrea or a few hours. Then me and Dad went to collect the my car. I came back to the hospital. We saw Jenny and Andy there. Jenny had had a little girl called Lily. Anne and Juliet came to visit about 6.30pm I stayed until 7.30pm then came home. Andrea and Katie were doing really well and Andrea is such a natural mummy. I tidied the house a bit for the rest of the evening. | |

Hospital For Induction |

| Got up about 6am and got our selves ready to go into hospital. Made sure we'd packed all we needed etc. We drove to Anne and Mikes and picked up Anne and then went to hospital. We had to wait for a couple of hours to be seen and for Andrea to have her preliminary examination which showed she was 3cm dilated which was good news. So then we went to the floor 12 in a room with just Andrea me and Anne most of the time and the mid wife popping in. That was nice. Andrea was hooked up to an antibiotic drip for a while first and then put on an oxytocin drip to encourage contractions. That lasted 4 hours and Andrea did have reasonably strong contraction in that time. But after 4 hours they did an examination and found she was only 4cm. They discovered that there was still amniotic fluid trapped in the sack so they ruptured the rest of the that and then the contractions really kicked in very strong and non stop! Andrea was in lots of pain and discomfort. That was a traumatic time! They turned the drip potency down and after a short time it was still too much and Andrea wanted an epidural. Only thing was the mid wife was busy with some one else so we had to wait 5 or 10 minutes which was a nightmare for Andrea. Then they came in a put the epidural in but that took a while to do and required Andrea to be really still. This was next to impossible and she was writhing around in pain. Some how though she managed it. It was traumatic! Once that had kicked in things eased off a bit but it did make her shiver and shake. At about 8.45pm They did another examination a few hours later and Andrea was still only 7cm dilated and was totally shattered as she had no sleep for 3 nights already. Lots of doctors and mid wives were around now and consulting with each other. Then the babies heart rate went up to 200bpm and stayed there for some time this really concerned them (and us!) and eventually they decided to do an emergency caesarean section. From that point it was all go go go! I was kitted out in hospital scrubs and Andrea was whipped into the operating theatre quick fast. They were talking to us all the time about what would happen and the anaesthetist was very good also telling us what was going to happen about that. Next thing we know we're in there and getting ready to be cut open! Andrea was very white by this point and shaking even more but amazingly she felt fine! Once we were in it only seemed like minutes until they had pulled the baby out. Andrea was awake but had a screen in front of her so she couldn't see what was going on but we heard a baby noise! I went round and they showed me our beautiful baby girl! Kathleen Anne Gunnell was born at 10.05pm and weighed 4kg or 8lb 14.5oz! I brought her over to see Andrea and tell her it was a girl she was really pleased! What a wonderful feeling! I took Katie-Anne out to see Anne who in the recovery room waiting for us. It took a bit of time to stitched Andrea up and get her out to the recovery room so I went between her and the Anne with the baby. Katie-Anne was very good and didn't cry the whole time. When Andrea was brought out to the recovery room they hooked her up to some drips for a couple of hours and showed her how to breast feed. Then they took down into the main post natal ward at about 2.45am. Then me and Anne drove home totally totally shattered! | |

Early
Morning Contractions |

| I got up properly about 4am again. From 5.30am till 7am Andrea was having strong 10 minute interval contractions but then they eased off again. She went to sleep about 8am. Around 10am Anne came over and I went into town to get some herbal type remedies that are supposed to be good for encouraging labour. While there I bumped into Jamie who was surprised to see me! Got back home and we tried them out. Andrea did have contractions but not strong and not regular and still too far apart. The rest of the day was spent writing down the contraction times and length. Towards the evening they seemed to mostly stop. But at 1am they started up again. Andrea got in pool and we measure contractions for another couple of hours, even phoning the labour ward at one point but still not close enough together for them to come out, and a few hours later they stopped again. | |

Having More Contractions |

| Got up properly about 8am but Andrea didn't really have too many more contractions after that. Dad popped over in the morning briefly. We spoke to the labour ward who gave some conflicting advice and we went in to see them about 11am as they wanted to do an examination to check the waters had broken. The lady we saw was quite good and said we wouldn't have to go for induction until Sunday morning which was good news as there had been suggestions that we'd have to be induced a lot sooner. so we came home encouraged by that. Dad was at ours when we got home as he'd been at the allotment. He went and did some shopping for us, which was great. Then we spent the rest of the day waiting for contractions to re-start. By about 9pm Andrea had some then they tailed off again. I went to bed about 11.30pm. Andrea woke me up to about 12.30am to say she was still having a few contractions so she phoned the labour ward to up date them. Then we were both awake and asleep at various time, But Andrea was awake more than me. | |

Sussex Uni Job App |

| Finished off my job application for Sussex Uni this morning but it took ages to finish it! After that we had a very quick lunch and then I went to see the hyper tension guy at the hospital. That went well my BP is down! Got back from there and we had some dinner and then I was off out for my first church leadership meeting. That was good. Near the end I got a call from Andrea saying that she had had a `show` about 8.30pm and that her waters had broken at 10.30pm so the guys prayed for me and I came straight home. Andrea started to have contractions about midnight until 4am. I managed to get 4 hours or so sleep but Andrea didn't really sleep much. I got up at 4am and Andrea had a bath then. We Stayed up until about 6am when we both fell sleep again for a few hours. | |

| Worked from home today. Andrea went to children of destiny in the morning and then on to Anne and Mikes for lunch. In the afternoon she came back briefly before us both going to see the mid wife. She said that the baby was already to go and all in the right position and everything. In the evening we had home group at Wendy's place. She lead the study which was nice to have a night off! | |

| Went to church in the morning. It was Dave and Rita's last Sunday before they went off to Liverpool for a month and then to Spain. Dave T preached a really great sermon. We hung around for a while after the service and then popped into Sainsbury's on the way home to get a few bits for lunch. When we got in I made a chilli then we had that and I watched `Clone Wars: Volume 2` which was OK. Then slept on the couch for a couple of hours. In the evening we didn't do much. Didn't go to church. Emptied and re-filled the birthing pool | |

Orienteering With Dad And Mike Went orienteering with Dad and Mike first thing in the morning. It was a really nice sunny day. Cold, but nice. We went to Balcombe and did the the orange course. Good time. Came home and Andrea and Anne were preparing lunch so we all had showers and then sat down to eat a nice beef stew. After that we look at some family tree stuff on the internet and found out a few interesting things. Then we watched the second half of the England rugby game. After that we all had some sandwiches for tea and Dad, Anne and Mike stayed until about 10pm. Then me and Andrea watched a `Columbo: Season 3` and then went to bed. |

Took him some coffee and biscuits down. Then I went to Lewes with Andreas for a look round the shops and a late lunch. That was nice. We had lunch at the real food company which was nice. After that we went and did some shopping in the Tesco in Lewes. Came home and unpacked all that and then watched `Clone Wars: Volume 1` which was good but we both fell asleep on the sofa for a fair while. | |

| Went for a run again first thing. Did well went faster than I had done before. Got back and the plumber arrived shortly after to fit the thermostatic valves on the upstairs radiators. After that I went to do door 2 door with Andy, Phillip and Gary. That was good. Came home and had lunch with Andrea. Then we watched a `Columbo: Season 2`. Then I went over to see Sean Chapman. Spent about an hour and a half over there. It was good to catch up with him. In the evening we went over to Dad for dinner with Clare and Dee and looked at cottages for our Dorset holiday.
